Last year we were honoured to
receive Swami Satsangi from Rikhia in Athenry, where she gave a 3-day
course for the Irish Satyananda Yoga teachers. It was a warm and
joyful gathering, enormously enjoyed by all who attended. This was
Swami Satsangi’s first visit to Ireland (and also the first
visit by anyone from the Indian Satyananda organisation), but
hopefully not the last. Swami Satsangi founded Sivananda Math, a
charitable organisation in Rikhia, India, and works tirelessly to aid
and uplift the underprivileged areas of society. She now travels
extensively, representing and teaching Satyananda Yoga worldwide.
To name a few of the other
esteemed Satyananda Yoga teachers who have visited the centre in the
past include Swami Janakananda from Sweden (founder and educational
leader of the Scandinavian yoga school), Swami Nischalananda from
Wales (spiritual director of Wales ashram), Swami Pragyamurti from
London (director of the Satyananda Yoga Centre in London for over
thirty years) and Dr Rishi Vivekananda (co-founder of the Satyananda
ashram in Australia and consultant psychiatrist for 39 years). We
look forward to welcoming more teachers from home and abroad alike in
the future.
In-service News
In January 2010 an in-service
workshop weekend was held by Swami Shraddamurti, Swami Chetanmurti
and Karl Prendergast (osteopath) on spinal ailments and the gunas’
influence on the chakras, plus other topics that can help with
teaching.
In May 2010 Priya Shakti
(Julie Friedeberger) gave a 3-day in-service workshop on Yoga and
Cancer. This was very inspiring for the teachers that work in that
field.
Check the ‘Courses and
More’ section for information on upcoming in-service workshops.
