Galway Yoga Centre - Class Levels

Each term of Satyananda Yoga classes offers a series of consecutive steps to build upon your knowledge and enjoyment of yoga class by class. For this reason we do not offer a drop-in facility and do not take new students into a class after the 3rd session.

If you need to miss one or more classes during the term we encourage you to attend alternative classes in that term at no extra cost. This allows you to make up your full number of classes paid for in that term. Please note that you may not carry over unattended classes to the next term.

There are different levels to choose from, depending on your previous yoga experience and your state of health. You can move through the different levels as you feel ready so that you are always in a class suited to your personal level.

Gentle Yoga: This level is for those who are new to Yoga and those who want their Yoga to be gentle, so the emphasis is on gentle stretching and relaxation.

    You’ll learn:
  • The basic yoga postures
  • Principles of safe alignment
  • How to free up your breathing
  • Yogic breathing techniques
  • How to let go of tension
  • How to work with your eyes closed so that you can be in the moment with awareness

Continuation Level: These classes are for those students who have some familiarity with the basic Asanas (postures). This level explores the different ways to use the breath and how to use the body in the postures. An awareness of your body and the breath is developed, and meditation is introduced. You are encouraged to practice at a pace led by your own breath in order to make the class a deep personal experience. Continuation classes are either Gentle, Moderate, or Strong. Speak with your teacher to find the class appropriate to your level.

Cost of Yoga Classes: We keep the prices reasonable to encourage you to come and practice yoga.

A deposit of 50% is payable at time of booking and the balance at the start of term. If for any reason after attending the first class you feel that the class is not suitable for you, please speak with your teacher. Once the class term is up and running the money cannot be refunded. Exceptions may be made for particular circumstances. If finance is an issue for you, concessions can be arranged.
