Bihar School of Yoga

Bihar School of Yoga (BSY) was founded by Swami Satyananda Saraswati at Munger (Bihar), India in 1963, as a charitable and educational institution to impart yogic training to aspirants of all nationalities. The original school, Sivanandashram, is the centre for short term courses in yogic sadhana, yogic health management, yogic stress management and other specialised courses.

The new school, Ganga Darshan, established in 1985, is situated on a hill top with a panoramic view of the river Ganges, the town of Munger and the surrounding villages and fields. BSY is renowned for its excellent sannyasa and yoga training. It provides trained sannyasins and teachers for conducting yoga in the defence services, prisons, educational institutes, medical colleges and rural areas, as well as seminars, conventions and lecture tours throughout the world.

Bihar Yoga Bharati

Bihar Yoga Bharati (BYB) is an institute for advanced studies in yogic sciences, founded at Ganga Darshan, Munger (Bihar), India, by Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati in 1994. It is the culmination of the vision of Swami Sivananda Saraswati and Swami Satyananda Saraswati; the first institute in the world of its kind to impart comprehensive yogic education with provision to grant higher degree; in MA, MSc, MPhil, DLit, and PhD.

BYB Institute offers a complete scientific and yogic education through the faculties of Yoga Philosophy, Yoga Psychology and Applied Yogic Science. At present BYB conducts Certificate, Diploma and two-year postgraduate Degree courses in higher yogic studies. Both Bihar School of Yoga and Bihar Yoga Bharati function together to form an integrated academic atmosphere within an ashram environment where yoga is both studied and researched as well as experienced as an integral part of life.
